The first destination is Bovilla Lake. The turquoise lake located near Tirana, in the Dajti Mountains National Park, is actually a water reservoir that provides most of the capital’s drinking water. This is the reason why you cannot swim in it, and therefore we do not organize this tour during the summer.

Lake Bovilla is surrounded by picturesque, soaring mountains, and offers an interesting climb to Mount Gamtit. The entrance is a steep mountain slope. In the last section, metal stairs and a viewing platform have been installed. The view of the lake from the top is very picturesque, so we highly recommend climbing it to people who are not afraid of heights. The hike takes about 15-20 minutes and is definitely worth it. At the top, there are also caves with beautiful views. People who do not feel up to hiking along the mountainside will be able to wait in a restaurant with a panoramic view of Bovilla.

After exploring the area of Lake Bovilla, we will go to Kruja – the first capital of Albania.  It was here, in the 15th century, that the greatest national hero of the Albanians, Skanderbeg, began building a unified Albanian state, giving rise to statehood and independence from the occupiers, who at that time were the Ottoman Empire.

Together, with a licensed guide, we will visit the area of Skanderbeg’s medieval fortress in Kruja, where the guide will explain why he is so important to the Albanian nation. In addition to the figure of Skanderbeg, the castle offers many buildings from the antiquity period, that can be admired.

After the tour, we will invite you to a traditional dinner together, which we will eat in our favorite restaurant in the Kruja castle. After a meal consisting of various local specialties, there will be time for shopping in the Old Bazaar. There you can buy the best souvenirs from Albania. You will be able to buy handicrafts, and visit the workshops of craftsmen weaving traditional kilims, or those making silver filigree.

In the afternoon, you will return to your accommodation.
